WHAT: Education Council meeting Tuesday

• Authorization granted to the Trumbull County Planning Commission to proceed with the removal of the old roof and the installation of a new roof at the Girard multigenerational center. Funding for the project will be a 2021 community development block grant administered by the county. Zuppo said the school district owns and leases the old Tod Woods school building for the center. The lease is $ 1 per year for 20 years;

• Recognized members of the FIRST Robocats team of Girard High School No. 379 and their advisers, Judy Barber O’Brien, Ashraf Hadi and Joseph Jeswald, and community volunteers, including engineers and alumni. Members of the team. Over the past two years, the team had to compete online and received the Industrial Design Award and the Engineer’s Design Award and finished 144th out of 1,400 teams worldwide in the 2020 season. -21. Hadi said that there had been no in-person national final event and that the teams had not built a new robot, but had modified the one for the 2019-2020 season, which also had no in-person final competition due to the pandemic;

• Approved a one-year contract with the Trumbull County Educational Services Center for a public / community relations coordinator one day per week;

• Conclusion of a one-year agreement with TCESC for technological services;

• Approved an agreement with Centraide for a Success After Six program, which is an after-school program for elementary school children following the Success Before Six summer program which helps prepare children for school;

• Approved under probationary status of a Gay-Hétéro Alliance Club for high school and college;

• Approved an agreement with TCESC for the Online Virtual Learning Academy for students taking distance courses;

• Hired Gary Pitts as a caretaker on a one-year contract.
