ST. MARYS – Emma Gavazzi, student representative for the St. Marys Area School District Board of Directors, presented her monthly report at Monday night’s meeting.
Class elections were held on October 8, she said, where Paige Bauer was elected president of the freshman class, Calden Baker of the junior class, Gianna Surra, sophomore class and Lilli. Mosier, president of the senior class.
“Each of them came forward without opposition, thus gaining their role,” she noted.
While there is no traditional homecoming dance at St. Marys Area High School, traditional homecoming activities did take place including Spirit Week, Gathering encouragement and a homecoming football game, Gavazzi said.
Marissa Matangelo was crowned reunion queen in 2021.
In his traditional style, Gavazzi brought directors up to date on sports.
“The women’s tennis team ended their regular season with a record of 12 wins and two losses,” she said.
Gavazzi herself and Davan Lion competed in the singles districts on October 5, she said, where Lion took first place.
Rachel Fleming, Caitlin Blessel, Mya Klaiber and Gavazzi all competed in doubles tennis districts, she said.
“The golf team have a season record of 13 wins and two losses,” she said. Lucas Benjamin is one of six players from District 9 who will advance to the state tournament later this month.
The women’s varsity volleyball team has a record of five wins and six losses, and the JV team, two wins and nine losses. The girls ‘soccer team have eight wins to their name, one tied and three losses, Gavazzi said, while the boys’ soccer team have eight wins and five losses.
“The cross country team has also completed its season and the cheerleaders have participated in football games,” said Gavazzi.
