Summary of Qualifications
All applicants must meet the basic requirements to be considered eligible when this announcement closes. Successful candidates will possess knowledge of basic legal principles and concepts to interpret and apply a body of laws, regulations, precedents and practices covering the recurring types of legal actions encountered at the Commission; knowledge of the principles, concepts and methods of commonly used legal research procedures and methods, and identification of/access to legal reference sources, sufficient to locate, analyze and prepare reports on relevant laws, court decisions, legal opinions and other legal documents; and knowledge of the legal techniques and skills necessary to analyze both factual and legal issues in order to prepare summaries of decisions, assess the applicability of precedents, or draft factums or other legal documents. dispute. Applicants should also be proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or similar software sufficient to prepare documents, spreadsheets and other work products; have the ability to communicate well, both orally and in writing; and be able to work independently and in a team-oriented environment. You must be a US citizen and at least 18 years old; AND Enrolled as a student at least half-time and as defined by your educational institution and have a good academic record as defined by your educational institution; AND Submit proof of student eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the student volunteer opportunity. Students must maintain their eligibility and enrollment for the duration of the student volunteer opportunity and must be actively enrolled at an accredited institution. Students who have graduated or who will graduate prior to the end of the Student Volunteer Program commitment are not eligible to participate without proof of future enrollment at an accredited educational institution. Specific working hours vary and will be established upon selection. Education must be from an accredited institution recognized by the US Department of Education.
